A letter from our CEO applauding the strength of our community during the pandemic The world has changed quickly and dramatically in recent weeks as we struggle to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic ... Dear Friend, The world has changed quickly and dramatically in recent weeks as we struggle to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. Many have suggested that what we are going through now is the largest disruption Canadians have faced since World War II. As we approach the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, which commemorates the Allies’ victory over Nazi Germany in May 1945, I invite you to reflect on the resiliency that lies at the heart of our great nation – and, by extension, our Canadian Armed Forces. As a retired Commodore of the Royal Canadian Navy and now the leader of an organization whose mandate is to serve those who serve, I can attest to the strength of our military community, especially during times of crisis. The efforts to care for and to connect with one another, despite social distancing measures, have been astounding to witness. To our Canadian Armed Forces members and their families – we are here for you and we stand ready to support you in whatever manner is required. To our donors, partners and supporters – we appreciate your ongoing support and efforts to ensure that together, we demonstrate to our troops that Canadians appreciate their service. I know that we will continue to stand together through these unprecedented times and that our community will come out of these hard times that much stronger. Sean N. Cantelon, Chief Executive Officer Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services
