National Tutoring Reimbursement Program

Program Update: Please note the Tutoring Reimbursement Program is no longer accepting applications for School Year 2024-2025 as the program has reached capacity. The Tutoring Reimbursement Program will re-open its application portal on 01 April 2025 at midnight (EST) for Fiscal Year 2025-2026. Any questions can be directed to the MFS National Education Team (education@cfmws.com).

Due to the unique circumstances of military life, transitions between curricula and interruptions to education continuity are significant barriers for school-aged learners in Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) families.

The Support Our Troops National Tutoring Reimbursement Program works to provide financial reimbursement to Regular and Reserve Forces CAF members with dependent school-aged children to ease education challenges related to the mobile military lifestyle and the impact on disruption to dependent children’s education continuum. Children with learning disabilities, physical disabilities or illness, children with an Individual Education Plan and for those whose circumstances require tutoring support as recommended by their school are eligible to apply. The program supports dependent children in CAF families, from kindergarten to grade 12.

The application portal for the Support Our Troops National Tutoring Reimbursement Program will open on 1 April 2025 at 12 a.m. EST and will close on 31 March 2026 at 4 p.m. EST or when all available funding has been exhausted.

Once an application is received and reviewed, the applicant will be notified via email within a 2 week period.

A Family can be in an educational jurisdiction inside or outside of Canada.

Priority will be placed on first time program applicants attending an accredited elementary or secondary school who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities or illness with an Individual Education Plan in place.

Learners whose circumstances require tutoring support as recommended by their school are also eligible. In extenuating circumstances, a letter of support from the program applicant’s school may be submitted in lieu of an Individual Education Plan.

We anticipate being able to serve a limited number of eligible applicants up to a maximum of $2000.00 per child for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

Tutoring services must be delivered by registered tutoring companies, academic institutions or community organizations or persons who specialize in providing academic supports to children and youth. Support Our Troops will not approve reimbursements for tutoring services delivered by friends or family of program applicants.

Instructions for applicants:

Please read the eligibility requirements carefully prior to submitting an application. This is the first step in the evaluation process in order to ensure your child qualifies as a recipient.

For fiscal year 2025-2026, Support Our Troops National Tutoring Reimbursement Program applications may be submitted on a continuous basis between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026.

  • Support Our Troops will not reimburse for tutoring hours billed in advance.
