Tutoring Reimbursement Program

Providing curriculum support for school-aged learners with disabilities or illness.

Due to the unique circumstances of military life, transitions between curricula and interruptions to education continuity are significant barriers for school-aged learners in Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) families.

The Support Our Troops Tutoring Reimbursement Program works to provide financial assistance to CAF families to ease curriculum challenges in the first, second and/or third year in a new community for children with learning disabilities, physical disabilities or illness. Learners with an Individual Education Plan and for those whose circumstances require tutoring support as recommended by their school are also eligible to apply. The program supports dependent children in CAF families, from kindergarten to grade 12.

Term one applications: The application portal for the Support Our Troops Tutoring Reimbursement Program will open on September 1, 2024 at 8 a.m. EST and will close on January 31, 2025 at 5 p.m. EST.

Term two applications: The application portal for the Support Our Troops Tutoring Reimbursement Program will open on February 1, 2025 at 8 a.m. EST and will close on June 30, 2025 at 5 p.m. EST.

Once information is received and reviewed, the applicant will be notified via email within a 2 week period.

A Family can be in the first, second or third year at the CAF member’s new place of duty either inside or outside of Canada.

Priority will be placed on first time program applicants attending an accredited elementary or secondary school who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities or illness with an Individual Education Plan in place.

Learners whose circumstances require tutoring support as recommended by their school are also eligible. In extenuating circumstances, a letter of support from the program applicant’s school may be submitted in lieu of an Individual Education Plan.

We anticipate being able to serve a limited number of eligible applicants up to a maximum of $1500.00 per child for the 2024-2025 school year.

Tutoring services must be delivered by registered tutoring companies, academic institutions or community organizations or persons who specialize in providing academic supports to children and youth. Support Our Troops will not approve reimbursements for tutoring services delivered by friends or family of program applicants.
