healthcare.

Newly posted military families often find themselves on wait lists for medical care. Families in remote postings routinely drive long distances for something as basic as primary healthcare.

For a military family with a special needs child the challenges can be truly daunting.

SPECIAL NEEDS CARE

Beyond significant wait times, military families caring for a child with special needs often lose access to critical services such as occupational therapy, speech language pathology, or physiotherapy when relocating. As a result, a child can go without specialized care for extended periods of time.

SUPPORT FOR EXTRAORDINARY HEALTHCARE NEEDS

Through the Special Needs Program, military families with special needs children, who have often exhausted their savings and access to publicly provided healthcare receive financial support to assist with some of the costs of assessments and extraordinary expenses associated with specialized equipment, therapy and medical travel.
